The full numbers
Descriptive, not a forecast: where the RSI stood in the past says nothing certain about the next day.
How to read it
- The RSI (relative strength index) compares the size of the recent rises with the size of the recent falls over 14 days, on a scale from 0 to 100. It is high after a run of strong rises and low after a run of strong falls.
- A reading above 70 is the usual line for overbought and below 30 for oversold. These are conventions, not rules: a price can stay above 70 or below 30 for weeks, and often does in a strong trend.
- Days in a row counts the closes in a row in the same zone (above 70, below 30 or between), ending with the last one.
- Crosses are the days the RSI first rose above 70 or fell below 30 after being outside that zone. The price is that day's close.
- Days above 70 and days below 30 are the share of each year's closes in that zone. The first 14 days of the prices have no RSI, so they are left out.
- The RSI describes how fast the price moved lately. It forecasts nothing: what came after past readings tells nothing certain about the next day.
